- The most important factor to consider when picking out the right gas forge is the type of project that youll be undertaking. Depending on the size of the piece that you want to forge, you may want to pick a bigger or a smaller forge. In addition, you may want to pick a forge that comes with a regulator hose if you dont have one on hand.

It will probably be easier not to worry too much about getting the exact length correct. What will make it look right is how you handle the slice in the middle. The guide for the cuts will be the ribs left.
You can start out knowing you will need the A end of one car with the full hopper. You will also need the B end and full hopper of another. Now choose one of the ends and leave the second full hopper on this. The other end will also need at least the open flat panel next to the ribs attached.
Now is where it gets tricky. You need to leave the bottom chord under the middle hopper straight. That may mean leaving three ribs on one and none on the other or perhaps two ribs on one end and one rib on the other.
What I would to start would be is make 6-10 photocopies of one car and then cut and glue these cheap paper copies together to make a fit before ever taking a saw to plastic.
Getting the roof hatches spaced properly may require patching some holes and moving the hatches.
Best of luck, send photos.
