Beginning with AutoCAD® 2006, the Allow Exploding option was added to the Block Definition dialog box. If this option is not selected when a block is created, instances of this block cannot be exploded. Theres no storm coming your way. If you are okay with people importing and exploding one spline in from autocad, thats good. They wont be doing it here. In fact, they wont be making the spline in AutoCAD here at all. Splines are a hot button issue for me, not because of the CAD vs Revit issue, but because of the real construction issue. But exploding it did not solve my problem. Using the join command turn my line into a spline and not a polyline. I was thinking why wont my lone explode!! So when I found this post it all made sense to me. My solution to exploding your spline is to use the pedit command to turn your spline into a polyline and now you will be able to explode the.

You can, however, convert your Splines to polylines in a couple of different ways (e.g., the ET FLATTEN command, saving as R12 DXF and reopening, etc.) that have been discussed here in the past, and then EXPLODE the resultant polylines. In AutoCAD you can't explode circles, ellipses or splines. For ellipses and splines you can use the same tip in ACAD or LibreCAD, save as dxf R12. SplineConvert curve conversions
SplineConvert is a simple ARX utility for AutoCAD 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004 and 2002 which converts arcs, circles, ellipses and spline curves (plus derived AutoCAD objects) to 2D polylines with given tolerance.
Please note that AutoCAD alone cannot convert (explode) Spline entities to polylines and cannot replace curved lines (e.g. arcs) with segmented approximations.
Installation
Run the .MSI distribution archive. The application is installed to the Program FilesXanaduSplineConvert folder by default. Choose one of the 'autorun' methods.
Usage
Run the conversion using SplineConvert toolbar button or by _sc_convert command on AutoCAD command line. Specify required parameters for conversion - source curve, segment length (tolerance), target layer. Optionally you can delete source entities and filter source entity types. A spline converted to 2D LWPOLYLINE with straight segments (using long segments) will look like this:
